Pacific Crest Trail Map

So, I've been home and one thing I do to keep myself occupied is trail work
with the North350Blades, the local PCTA group. In fact I am a crew leader
with the Blades.

One day Dave got to talking how he was going to hike from Stevens Pass to
Stehekin. I'm thinking what a cool idea.

So when I got home from cutting brush I proposed to Dona that we do that
trip. Besides our trip earlier in the Sierras was only 55 miles for her so
she had 95 miles in the bank.

Stevens to Stehekin is a tad under 100.

So, here we are 9.6 miles in in a hoard of mosquitoes.

We climbed over at least a dozen downed trees today. Doesn't help ones
speed! And some of those guys were big!

We meet one southbounder, Eric. He was all jazzed about a really dangerous
slide north of Mica Lake. He said to cut the end of the switchback to avoid
it but that the hill is really you have to watch that. Sounds
fun, not.

The local PCTA guy had sent me a UTube of the slide area. Kind of freaked
Eric out that I had seen a video! It does look bad.

Janus Lake is a pit. Looks great but that was it for me.
Its pretty shallow and it is disgusting the amount of toilet paper within
feet of the shore and outlet stream. Come on folks, use one of the two
toilets that are at the lake.

I plan to add photos when return from this seven night trip.

Life is a tale, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
