Back to the Sierras
As promised, my ride showed up at 10am. I was able to get to the post office before hand and ship my boots back home before heading out. We made our way back up the steep road and arrived and Horseshoe Meadow at around 11am. I thanked him for all his help and made my way back to the PCT.These shoes feel so much better. I'm actually able to walk for more than 30 minutes in them. The trail provided many views of the distant mountains. As I approached Chicken Spring Lake, the sky turned dark. I headed up the swithbacks and as I looked out, all i saw was a wall of white. Within seconds I was caught in a mini snowstorm. I retreated back down towards the lake, not knowing how long it would last. Twenty minutes later, it stopped and I headed back up the switchbacks. I made my way down to Rock Creek where half a dozen hikers were camped. I set up near the bear box and had dinner. A couple that named themselves Team No Hurry had offered me a curry lentil dinner. It was quite good as gobbled up the last few spoonfuls.
I got into my tent and made my plans for the next couple of days. Judging from my food supply, I may make it to Mammoth Lakes without needing to resupply in between.
