Returning to the PCT, leaving VVR. Silver Pass.
We pack up early and wait in the heated room, it was one of four deluxe rooms with showers, refrigerator, microwave and heater.
We have breakfast at the 7 am opening, coffee, bacon and enormous pancakes. Wow, I could not finish them.
Then we waited for four hikers to take the boat ride.
Elevation limbing today is around 4,000 feet to Silver Pass. We hike from 10 to around noon. Stop and make ramen for lunch. It is very tasty.
Then we proceed up again. My expectations for the day are low. But the views from Silver Pass are outstanding.
I use Lou's camera most of the day because my camera got wet during the boat ride. The lens was cloudy with condensation all day. Ugh!
We hike up and over with little pause. 10 miles today.
We select another most excellent camp site and ate instant mashed potatoes for dinner. Lou wants to do 17 miles tomorrow. There are no huge climbs, but there is a lot of 1,000 feet up and 1,000 feet down and repeat.
Today I ate many snacks, a bag of fruit and nuts, a snickers bar and a granola bar. All were excellent. I wanted to get the energy out of it instead of just carrying it up and down the trail all day.
Hiking has become a routine, the weather is nice all day and has become routine as well. Very nice.
I don't want to escape life. I will hike to keep life from escaping me.
