Pacific Crest Trail Map

Day 4

It was extremely cold on the top of the hill. The wind blew most of the night and we woke up to a bit of frost on the ground. But we were only a mile away from a hot breakfast wich was our first stop in Mt. Laguna. Our drive yesterday was to get to the post office here before it closed at 11. Well worth it. We both were able to drop some unnecessary gear. Mine mostly came out of my first aid. I did pick up the box I sent from Campo. A nice refill on some vitamins, protein, dog food, new socks, and another thermal. We stopped into a sports outfitter and I bought a silk liner for my bag to try and retain some heat having to share my open bag with Kia. We resupplied the rest from the general store. Talk about some mark ups. We had lunch in town then set off for some showers a few miles up the trail at a CG. They were, to our disappointment, closed. We trotted our dirty asses to the next water spot, which was shut off and we ended up pumping water out of an open pipe and camping. There was a cut open propane tank being used as a horse trough that was empty of any water worth drinking. We preceded to dump it out and make it into a nice fire tank.
