Pacific Crest Trail Map

Trail Names

So I've been Osprey since I hiked the CDT in 2006, I started with an Osprey pack, flew down the trail, and absolutely hate fish. So the name kind of fit in a trail name fashion. Ana, having never been a thru-hiker, doesn't have an official trail name. She does however have a self-coined nickname that I think fits perfectly, Perdita. Acording to Wikipedia, perdita means:

Perdita (Latin for "lost one"), can mean:

*Perdita (genus), a very large genus of American native bees

*Perdita (The Winter's Tale), the heroine of Shakespeare's play The Winter's Tale

*The name of a sky ship in Neil Gaiman's Stardust in which the main characters travel

*Perdita (moon), a minor satellite of the planet Uranus

*Perdita Huston, women's rights activist

So if you know Ana, it really fits. She and my dad like to say they could get lost on the inside of a cheerio. It's true. Fortunately she's gotten a lot better at navigating.

Therefore in May, 2013 Osprey and Perdita will be hitting the PCT from Campo to Manning Park.
