Yesterday despite starting with a ton of people I did hike a lot of the day by myself. I found myself thinking about muscle memory and wondering if my body has any recollection of this. A few months ago I pulled out my old piano books and played through several songs I had played as a teenager. The hands knew exactly what to do.
It's really starting to sink in. Oh my gosh, I'm hiking the PCT. After watching some fun films tonight about the PCT, I can't believe that I hiked so far before. And here I am doing it again.
A girl managed to trip on my tent and collapse it on me while I was inside attempting to nap. She might have gotten a trail name because of it.
I volunteered for dinner prep this afternoon. In 2 hours a crew made at least 1600 burittos. I was the cabbage and cheese station. Very fun! And then I served chips when the masses came for dinner. If I havent mentioned it, I'm at this huge PCT kick off event at lake morena where hundreds of people gather to celebrate all things trail. I also picked up the water report today which details the upcoming water sources.
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. The PCT passes through 6 out of 7 of North Americas ecozones. Learn more: www.pcta.org
