The Eagle Has Landed

The cow staring match
In the wing of Eagle Rock
Community heart

There were at least 40 hikers camped at barrel springs but I think I might have been one of the first up and left by 540 am. The call of the shower, laundry and breakfast was strong.

The hike into Warner Springs is beautiful. Rolling meadows with cows staring at you as you go by. Good shit :) Today was the day! Eagle Rock and I met each other. Probably due to being blinded by pain my last time through, I completely missed greeting this notorious rock. A thing of beauty she is.

Quick miles into Warner Springs netted no line at the shower, a chance at laundry and a hearty breakfast of eggs, sausage and pancakes. All of this was possible because of the Warner Springs Community Center. They even had a mini resupply store, computers and big trees for the group of 50 hikers to hang out under. Hikers arriving later were SOL for laundry. After my shower and breakfast, trail angel Jelly Bean's Granny gave me a lift down to the post office to get my resupply box. Also called home, talked to my mom and got the Yazhi report.

And if it couldn't get any better, today was the Warner Springs farmers market. So, after lounging around most of the day under the big oak trees, and as I headed back to the trail, I grabbed some strawberries and peas from the market. What a treat!

A short 5+ miles to a creekside camp spot with at least 15 hikers crammed in here tonight. Good evening with great conversation. Whether you realize it or not, a nurturing community is an essential part of life.
