a look back to yesterday

Roadrunner

Meep, Meep...Roadrunner
Creekside afternoon laughter
Another 8 miles

Slept really great last night despite being lined up like sardines under canopies at ziggy and the bears. Exhausted from the day. Maybe 60 hikers were there. I was at the end of a row near Team Winfrey: Mehap, Spark, Veggie, Track Meat and Saggitar. Slow morning complete with breakfast and drying of tent and journal writing. Didn't hit the trail until 830 am.

I think a fly followed me all morning. Must have liked my hiker smell. Just before the lunch spot I actually spotted my very first wild roadrunner. This was super exciting for me because my elementary school was the Yokayo Roadrunners. The mascot never really made sense there in Ukiah but it still holds a special place in my heart.

Made good miles despite the heat to the lunch spot at Whitewater River. Hung there in the shade with Mehap, Rotisserie, G Dub, Sensai, and the Unicorn Sisters for about 3 hours. We laughed and laughed and had the best of times. We've got the next adventure planned. Joining G Dub on his boat for a circumnavigation of the globe.

Finally at 4 pm, Rotisserie and I reluctantly rolled out and put in another 8+ miles. Just the two of us here tonight as the stars twinkle.

And, forgot to mention that yesterday I completed section B and passed the 200 mile mark. And as Sensai and I trekked to ziggy bear we got lost for a while, had to bush wack, and fight through the ripping wind and sprinkles before rejoining the sandy pct. When almost to the highway underpass, I sorta face planted in the sand. Made for some good laughs. I was glad that I could get Scottie P to laugh because she had been vomiting all day.
