the trail has turned me into a junkie

Ho' In The To'

Today was the first day my foot was feeling better. I was clippity-clopin' with my big boot all around the tile floors. First time too with no pain meds.

I had a follow up appointment with the podiatrist today. He carved away at my toe a bit more like it was a finely-aged cheese for some Sunday in the park relaxation. He didn't miss a beat and made small talk all the way. Something about a deep sea fishing obsession. No really, the guy is cool. Also found out that I had two different bacteria having a party in my toe so he prescribed yet another antibiotic, just to be safe. I really wish I could repeat the names of these bacteria because they seemed awfully phallic. What kind of scientists are naming these things?

I'm sure my jaw dropped when he said he wanted to see me next Thursday. WTF?! Next Thursday? I'm already going to be 4 days down the trail. Ok. Ok. We compromised on Tuesday at a different office he has in Northridge. He was like......hello! you have a hole in your toe!! He said to bring in my new shoes and I'll get all set up good.

Come on folks, I'm trying to have a little fun!
