Toeday Is The Day

Awoke with the sun for the first time in nearly two weeks. It felt really late when I finally looked at my watch at 530 am. I decided to hike out in the afternoon so I had a leisurely morning of reading and laying in my cot.

I rode a bicycle the short distance into town. My atrophing bicycle muscles appreciated the ride. And I appreciated the bicycle bridging the gap between the fast moving car and my soon to be walking. I even helped repair a couple flat tires of the Saufley bike fleet.

Toeday was my big day to get back on trail after sitting around for nearly two weeks. Managed to catch a ride to the trail head and then had a nearly two thousand foot climb. It was surreal. Like an out of body experience. I seemed to stumble down the trail, my body not really understanding what to do. The toe is doing well. I moved delicately and deliberately, like the slow confidence of a continent. Camped here tonight with Porsche and I'm pretty sure I can hear a mountain lion in the distance so my nerves are a little unsettled.
