Sally Keyes lakes
7 out of 9
Two marmots grubbin' on dirt
Smashing mosquitos
The most unbelievable thing happened. I slept in until 6 am. I was so tired and I slept so well. As I was fixing up my feet for the days walking, I found a third toe starting to go bad. WTF? So, I decided to lace my left shoe back through the first rung of laces. That's all I can figure is the difference between my two feet. With all this tough rocky trail, maybe there's too much room in there and some friction is going on.
Beautiful trail on the way up and down from Seldon Pass (10,910 feet). Decided it was a good idea to have lunch at Heart Lake just below the pass. The gang caught up from their hot springs adventure and then Hot Tub and Outburst went skinny dipping in heart lake. They were hooting and hollering from the cold, frigid water.
You know how things happen in threes? Well, Cherub figures that for me things happen in nines. I logged number 7 when I lost my stick Pic today. It fits on the end of my trekking pole and attaches to my camera so I can take a picture of myself without any ones help. It tumbled out of my camera Ziploc bag down into the granite rocks never to be seen again. Only 2 more gear problems to go.
Atop Seldon Pass with a view of Marie lakes, I watched two marmots eat what appeared to be just dirt. There had to be something good in there. Got a funny video of the whole scene. Things got really buggy as we descended and the mosquitoes attacked at the bear creek ford. They swarmed like crazy. Had to fight them off as I took off my shoes and then put them back on on the other side of the creek. Camped near a hillside stream just 7 miles from VVR with Outburst, 30 pack, Coincidence and Paul Bunyan.
