Mosquito Crumb Trail

Hot hiking weather
Dead mosquitos like crumb trail
Thousand Island Lake

Slept in this morning and didn't get on trail until 8 am. Spent most of the day hiking up along the middle fork of the San Joaquin river. It was so hot that I could not stand to put on my pant legs or long sleeved sunshirt. This meant that I spent a large part of the day killing mosquitos that landed on my legs and arms. Like crumbs, the dead mosquitos littered the trail in my wake.

If it's hot up here over 8000 feet, then it must be scorchin' hot in the low lands. There was a slight breeze as we rolled into Thousand Island Lake which helped keep the mosquitos at bay. This was the first lake that the low water level was incredibly noticeable to me. Camped tonight just 3.5 miles from Donahue Pass and will get into Tuolumne Meadows tomorrow. We retreated to our tents by as early as 6 pm and it's been oddly silent here in camp tonight.
