trail angel team
Hum of the highway
Truckee pizza and ice cream
Swatt angel mission
Super lazy morning because I only had 3 miles to make before 10 am. I was pumped as I made it into the donner pass/boreal/hwy 80 pct trail head. Found Robin, Jeff, Eli and Vivi. They were all very sweet and gave me a hug despite my stink and grunge.
We headed off to the Donner museum and got our fill of their mishaps. "Don't ever take no shortcuts...." or something like that. Next stop was downtown Truckee for pizza and beer. Not long after I was having a coffee and coconut waffle cone. We checked out some of the shops and I managed to resist an awesome pair of bicycle earrings.
Back at the trail head, the Swatt team had all sorts of goodies for me. Lagunitas ipa, fruit including the token Bartlet pear, potato salad, sausage, cookies. I was only able to carry out the 2 lb bag of cookies, 2 slices of pizza, fruit and 1 more beer. Thank you so much amazing trail angels team Swatt!
After hiking a ways down the trail, the afternoon seemed hot so I sat and made a couple phone calls. After drinking a liter of water I was ready for the climb out. Decided to do just a few miles to the Peter Grubb hut and then get an early start tomorrow. 6 other pct hikers here, most of them new to me. I shared the cookies with them. Robin, everyone loved them so much!
