Big group camped tonight

Haiku yesterday was inspired by Mumford and Sons. Their Babel cd is so great for hiking! And I forgot to mention that I ran into Aloha, Toots Magoots and Tears for beers again. Hadn't seen them since Kearsarge pass.

Snuck out of Sierra City as quietly and quickly as I could. Had to do the 1.5 mile road walk as there was no traffic early in the morning. Headed out just before me was Hot Tub, Sweet Tooth and Mike who's trail name is now Watson. What goes down must go back up. And that's exactly what we did. Over 3000 ft climb up the Sierra Buttes. Passed the 1200 mile mark early in the climb too. Less than 500 miles until Oregon!

Good spring water today and I carried enough to avoid getting water from lakes. Mostly, the hike was waterless as we hiked far above lake after lake.

The afternoon miles slipped by due to hours of daydreaming and I arrived at camp by 6 pm. Camped tonight at the A tree where there is amazing spring water. Ice cold and delicious. One hiker after another rolled in. Here tonight are the morning crew plus Wocka Wocka, Giddy Up, Honey Bunny, Sneaks, Hannah and Nate.
