Q Zero

Was up late last night uploading my journals from the last 4 days. Thanks to dark curtains I was able to sleep in until after 8 am. After chatting with hikers Running Commentary and Haggis over continental breakfast, my Mom and I decided to stay another night rather than looking for a new spot. We had to switch rooms but it was only one room over. The new room appears to be a handicap room but you wouldn't be able to get a wheelchair in the bathroom because there is a bed in the way. Hmmm....

I went and did laundry and decided to check out my resupply box while I waited. SNAFU! There before me was my Burney Falls box which wouldn't be too big a deal except that now I don't have maps for the next 100+ miles. I panicked a bit and then remembered I'd seen a couple other hikers come into the hotel this morning. As luck would have it, they soon appeared at the laundromat and I asked if I could take pictures of their maps. It's not convenient but at least I've got the details on water now. Crisis averted.

My repaired backpack has arrived so I switched everything back into it. I sorted through my food, repaired some gear and got myself trail ready. As the movie RV played on TV, its comedy of errors seeped into our room as my mom fixed up a comical hamburger lunch.

How do you follow up a hamburger lunch? Go watch the Giants game and consume more pizza and beer. That was followed up by an awesome stop at Quincy Natural Foods.

Will head out at the crack of dawn tomorrow. Big climb. Lots of heat.
