headed out

Decided to get up at 5 am. Ouch. Wanted to get on trail early and beat the heat. Also decided to recreate my Burney Falls resupply box and have my mom mail it today because I will be there in less than a week. Thanks to the continental breakfast, I was able to scrape together enough food without having to go to the store. Also called my dad and he's sending my missing maps to Chester. Thanks trail angels mom and dad!

On trail by 830 am to start the long, hot, 14 mile, over 5000 foot climb out of Belden. Luckily, there was plenty of water along the way including Andesite spring (formerly poison spring) with water as cold as if you'd just taken it out of the refrigerator. A morning snack consisted of grapes, half a brownie and a slice of pizza. Lunch was 4 more slices of pizza! Thanks mom for all the yummy food and rescue from the heat of Belden!

I didn't see any hikers today until just after 5 pm. I talked with 2 Bad Dogs for a little while before zippin' down the trail. Got water cold at cold springs and went for a couple more miles. Camped here by myself.

Sometimes friends give you gifts even when you might not deserve them. Some beautiful words have come my way which have lightened a burden which I have carried for far too long. Thank you.
