Coastal Day

Metamorphosed rock
Mountain lion and deer tracks
Mountain coastal day

Woke up in good spirits and for some reason was thinking about the ridiculous but hilarious movie RV. "Part SUV, part ATV, and certified by the DMV." If you haven't seen it, it's worth a watch just for Robin Williams' funnies. Was a little slow getting up but managed to catch some of the ridge top sunrise. On the trail not far from where I slept, I noticed two different sized mountain lion paw prints in addition to the frequent deer tracks.

Good spring water all morning but later in the day I had to carry water for a 16 mile stretch to avoid going off trail for water. The afternoon turned to an eery, cloudy fog which made me think I was at the coast. Without the breeze it was warm and muggy. The foggy haze was so think that I couldn't see Mt. Shasta anymore.

Today I kept thinking about my experience with Goku at Burney Falls. He was still hungry after his first dinner. I mentioned that the store had microwave food too. He got real excited, almost like a child would, and motioned for me to follow him into the store. He eventually picked out a ham and cheese hot pocket. I decoded the wrapper and got it cooking in the microwave (you see Scott, it's a good thing I practiced). When the microwave was done zapping the life out of the food Goku topped it with pickles, ketchup and mustard. I've never had so much fun helping someone use the microwave before.

This evening as I forced my feet to go the last few miles, I descended into a river valley and it is quite cool here. A gigantic 5 point buck stopped by to say hi. Good thing as I was wondering what was crunching around in the forest.
