Trail Of Poop

I must have passed at least 10 horses today. The lot of them left one hell of a trail of fresh, stinking shit. I saw one lady coming on her horse and she was in a full gallop. I saw the hikers in front of me leap off the narrow trail. The rider slowed as she reached us but damn lady, slow the hell down. Plus, horses tear the trail to pieces.

Had an unexpected glacial river ford this afternoon. You think I would have learned by now that you can't get around volcanoes quickly. This thing was huge and the water was ice cold. I had to cross two fingers of the silty water. Pain. Mind blowing pain from the frigid water. The kind the doubles you over and makes you want to cry. The pain did not leave my toes for 10-15 minutes. The coldest ford of the whole trip so far.

Camped at the awesome lava spring where the water gushes out from the rock. The water is so cold I can barely hold my hand in it to get water.
