Adams sunrise

Rock The Goat

Was on trail by 630 am so I could catch the sunrise as I hiked. Watched the sky turn from pink to blue. Watched Mt. Adams turn to glow. Watched marmots clatter through the slate.

By 730 am I was crossing my first glacier of the day and headed towards the knife edge ridge. In the distance, Mt. Rainier glistened. I took my time, soaking in this beautiful place. 5 miles in 4 hours. I love the Goat Rocks. There really aren't words to describe the beauty. Perhaps Regina said it best. And, despite all efforts, I did not see the illusive goats.

Time to make tracks. 16 miles in 6.5 hours. Got to White Pass, a gas station/mini mart/winter ski lodge, just in time to get a room, shower and do my laundry before the mini mart closed at 6 pm.
