5 to 9 Life

This weekend ended up being a good training weekend. I got a 3 mile run in on Friday night and a 10 mile hike with a 25lbs pack over flat but sandy terrain in the San Tan Mountains. Sadly, it was solo because my wife had to work but we will have more opportunities to train together in the coming weeks. We are planning a gear shakeout in about two weeks from the Peralta Trailhead in the Superstition Mountains to Canyon Lake and yo-yo it over two days, a bit under 30 miles.
In terms of gear things are going well:
I heard from Matt at Zpacks that our tent should ship out today and I am beyond excited to try out the Hexamed Duo.
I also found a local printer(with the help of my brother in law and sister) that will print Halfmiles maps for under $ 100 and no shipping charges. So we should have all of our maps by the end of the week!


I also connected with a local thru-hiker Larry via Trail Journals and we am excited to meet up with him and hopefully his wife for a training hike and/or beer in the near future. I cant wait to talk with someone with extensive trail experience (PCT, AZT, CT). Plus, I am really enjoying reading of his experience on the CT last year. Definite trail on my bucket list.
