Pacific Crest Trail Map
I have my plane tickets, I fly to San Diego March 29th. I hope to be hiking that afternoon, or early the next morning.I was given a months leave of absense from my job of driving school bus, so I better hit the ground running ( or hiking!!) I need to be so ready to hike the end of March! I plan to hitch back to the Kickoff from how ever far I get, before I head home.
Im attempting making my own back pack- I took a brand new Osprey Aura and tore the pack part off, left the frame and shoulder straps/hipbelt, and am adding my own bag to it! The proto type is done, turned out a bit big, but I can down size that easy enough. I have to make better pattern pieces then work on the "real" thing!
I have most of the equipment Ill need. Just need to find a sun hat, as I lost mine last year at Old Station. Also, may need new shoes, my Montrail Namches have too many miles on them to trust them. Not sure what shoes to go with, may try Merrel Moab Ventilators. I like the ankle support and dont seem ready to go to just a trail runner. If it works, dont fix it!
Ive set up a training schedule and I continue to ride my bike to work one day a week. I rode it today to town since I missed riding it on friday. I bought an elliptical machine which will help me train on work days. I plan on getting up at 4 am workdays to get my time in on the machine. I know it wont replace walking, but I need all the help I can. Ill try to get out on the weekends as much as I can.
Cant wait to see the border!!!!!!!WaaaaaHoooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
