Sequoia National Forest

Leaving Kennedy Meadows

I left the KM store at 6 a.m. and headed toward the Sierras. A magic switch was not flipped to make the sand disappear but after several hours and miles the temperature started to moderate, green became more prevalent and giant Sequoia trees painted the landscape. Water was prevalent today and several folks took the opportunity to fish in the Kern River. The biggest challenge for today was carrying the extra weight required to make it to the next resupply 90 miles north coupled with the additional weight of the required bear canister

Blake's PCT Adventure

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862) "Walden"

The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. The PCT passes through 6 out of 7 of North Americas ecozones.
