Heralds of Spring
Time for a reset.
2013 is shaping up to be a fantastic year to spend the entire summer on the Pacific Crest Trail. What's so good about 2013? Last year had very low snow levels in the Sierra and with some regret I didn't hike last year. This year is starting to look almost as good.
Little snow means excellent hiking in the Sierra. Hey, who am I to take the weather gods infrequent gift for granted?
This is not my first foray into the realm of long distance hiking. In 2002 I covered 2000 miles from the Mexico border to McKenzie Pass near Sisters, Oregon. In 2003 I picked up where I left off and ended the hike at beautiful Stehekin, WA for another 570 miles. 2005, a very wet year, again I started from Mexico only to leave the trail at Cajon Pass, CA or about 340 miles.
So as I wade knee deep into my planning and training, stay tuned, tomorrow is another day.
The past is for reminiscing, the present for living and the future for anticipating. Don't lament any of it.
