Long first day
Beautiful weather all day. The wind picks up and howls periodically and I'm sure it will be doing it again all night. Fortunately I am protected in my camp by a bunch of trees and I'm really well battened down with my tent stakes.Today I ran into 5 other people hiking, first off two random guys from Czechoslovakia had run into each other and were chatting. Frank was the guy that Rick had mentioned in town. We hung out today at lunch and we camped together (even though he got in way late by flashlight). He has a blog from his 5 year adventure around the world. He hopes to hike 1000 miles of the PCT. His trail name is Unprepared and his blog can be found by googling:

I'm beat! Long first day. I had a headache from the altitude. Last night my camp was above 10,000 ft. Tonight's is at 8960 ft. I will sleep well.
