Killing a quick minute here at work - a trail journal seems to be a good way to document and (possibly) motivate me to notch away at the planning of my north-bound thru-hike incrementally.
Some quick background. I grew up in southern Connecticut and attended college in Maine. I have done MANY day-hikes as well as overnights on sections of the AT as well as in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. I really LOVE hiking and have thought about doing a long-distance thru-hike for quite some time although I can't pinpoint what initially sparked my interest.
I moved to Boulder county in Colorado in the winter of 2009 (Feb) and have been living in a small town called Nederland, 20 miles west of the city of Boulder. After moving to Colorado I have continued to explore the outdoors - hiking, climbing, biking, skiing. I am in the very beginning process of planning a 2014 thru-hike of the PCT headed North. As of today I have the PCT data book in hand and I have also started a written journal/planning book to keep track of the whole planning process as it unfolds - more from a logistical perspective then writing journal entries as I plan on doing here. More to come.
