Feather River

Tough day today. We left camp and headed down to the Feather river, after getting water at a small stream about 500 feet off trail. The trail down to the river was pretty good, but my left ankle just doesn't work well going down hill. Hurts. After several miles I told Red Feather and Trail Legs to go on ahead and I would slowly make my way down.
The river is pretty good size, and several hikers sent swimming. The water was not cold. I sat on a rock and soaked my ankle, actually both feet so I could get the right foot cleaner. Felt good to soak the foot.
Also washed out my shirt, and socks, which at least for my shirt was the first time in several days. With the clear sky it didn't take long for my shirt to dry.
From here the trail goes hill up for about 8 miles. With the sunny day this was very sweaty work. We stopped at the next stream in about 2.3 miles and I soaked my ankle again.
Since I was going slower due to my ankle, Trail Legs headed out on her own. We saw a number of hikers going up this uphill part. Some were going to Buck Lake, which is an alternate resupply place, but most are going to Beldon.
Due to my ankle we are going to reduce miles, then I think take a day or so off in Beldon. So today we only did about 18 miles. Ankle was hurting the last few miles. Hopefully it gets stronger and feels good soon cause this continual hurting is not enjoyable hiking.
