Full Disclosure
Full Disclosure: I did see Wild. And I also read the book. And it did inspire me to hike the Pacific Crest Trail.
Am I dillusional?
Well, I hope not. I start law school in September. That's 6 months away. For a while I've been considering the various ways I could choose to spend my time. Everyone said I should travel. I knew I wanted to truly live in one place. I considered Australia, South America, and San Francisco, before my friend jokingly suggested I do what Reese (or Cheryl, whoever you reference) did and hike the PCT. And it was like a cartoon lightbulb popped up above my head. It ticked all my boxes.
If I hike the PCT, I will get fit, I will have time to write, I will meet new people, I will gain perspective, and I won't break the bank.
So here I am. Planning this long-distance hiking trip. Ripping off someone else's iconic journey to self-discovery, hoping that it might bring me the same sense of self-awareness, confidence, and peace that it brought Cheryl Strayed.
Let's see how this goes.
Hil's Trip
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650-mile national scenic trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. The PCT traverses 24 national forests, 37 wilderness areas and 7 national parks. The PCT passes through 6 out of 7 of North Americas ecozones. Learn more: www.pcta.org
