The end of the PCT trek @ Tuolumne Meadows; 100% done!

PCT ... Check that box. Done & done.

This entry covers Wednesday, 8-26-15 from Glen Aulin CG @ HM 0948.3 to Tuolumne Meadows @ HM 0942.
5.7 miles.

PCT completed!

Woke up at 0445; packed up, & was hiking before 6a. Had taken more vitamin I for the sore toes so the last miles could be enjoyed. Last year I had made the walk up and out of Glen Aulin and today it was with mixed feelings. This was the last 6.5 miles of my PCT hike which overall was so good. I was tired so these last few miles seemed a lot longer. Finally I had the Tuolumne Meadows store in view and crossed the "finish line" so to speak. What a fine moment it was. Probably will take weeks and months to process. Really appreciated the trail community and the wilderness areas. Top highlights: Goat Rocks knife edge, Sierras, Stehekin and "rugged" Washington State.
After a breakfast plate from the cafe, I took a YARTS bus to the valley visitors center and dove into more food, phone, and Internet while waiting for the bus to Groveland. The stretch from Lake Tahoe to Tuolumne Meadows had very little cell or www signal so no one had heard from me for awhile.

[In the next 4 months I worked on adding more pictures to each journal entry (www.postholer.com/surforcycle) now that I can use my laptop computer.]

My heartfelt appreciation goes to all the people who helped make my trek possible: trail angels, town people, trail companions & acquaintances, guestbook signers, family & friends, especially the logistical support from Sarah and Steve, and encouragement from my son Justin. This adventure was challenging and worth all the calories spent doing it.
