Snow at Great Basin near Ely NV

Brrrrrrr It's not Spring Here

Starting at Baker City OR yesterday all the way to Boise, we had rain-snow-sleet and black clouds in all directions. This morning, the sky was clearing and by the time we hit NV it was clear blue, but windy and cold. We spent the night at the KOA in Ely. It got down to 24 F. We had to unhook from city water to keep our water hose from freezing and bursting. There were remnants of snow in the park. The mountains around us were white. Don looked at me with his puzzled look, and asked, "Can you hike in this weather?" Yes was the answer. I brought my winter hiking clothes and gear anticipating the swings of early spring weather in the mountains. I rather prefer hiking on cold days, it's sleeping in the cold that's no fun. But we'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
