PCT DAY 4 - 8

So its been awhile since I have posted and quite a bit has happened since then. As I write this I am 130 miles away from the start.

I have heard the PCT described this way : the first third is physical, the second third is mental and the final third is spiritual. Thua far I can definitely attest to that idea. But physical and mental. The location longest day thus far has been 20 mile day but for the most part I'm doing 15
. Lately it's been hike from 630 am until about 11 break during the heat of the day then night hike (which is fun except once when it was super cold and windy)

Been cowboy camping the last 4 nights (no tent) due to the shear exhaustion. My heels are killing me (not blisters but like none pain). They hurt so bad towards the end of the day I am almost in tears but I hope that starts to go away. I also have chafe in my taint area (ouch) but I found some cream in a Hiker box that seems to help.

I've noticed that whenever I'm around a large crowd (at the moment at this trail angel Mikes place right off the trail) I'm pretty anti social and annoyed. I don't like the young college aged kids, the hippies, or the know it all. I pretty much like the older people including the foreigners.

The group I'm hiking with is real cool
. Dan is an electrician, his daughter Cammy will be a senior in HS next year, Mike (spreadsheet) is an architect. They are all from Portland. Astray (tater tot) is from Essex in England. And me (trail name Scuba Steve). We also run into an older guy Aaron from Sacramento.

It's fitting me sitting here finally writing something and it's the first time on trail that I have no service.

On a few days we will reach Idyllwild where we will take our first zero day. My feet can use the rest!

I'd like to once again thank Amber for putting up with my needs for a new sleeping bag and sending me resupply. I know it's been a tough first week but thanks again for all that you do for me. Wouldn't be possible without you.

Sorry no pictures. I'll try to upload a bunch when I reach Idyllwild.

Scuba Steve
