Salton sea is in the horizom
So yesterday there were 55 mph wind gusts and it actually snowed on me in the middle of the night
with all my gear on it was able to stay warm which is reassuring. I busted out 6 miles today in under 2 hours and made it to Paradise cafe. But too early to have the "best burger on trail." I did however have a wonderful Denver omelet
Currently at a campground in Idyllwild where I was able to take a shower after 4 days of stinky hiking. I'm excited that Amber is coming to visit for two nights
it'll be great to see her and may be the last time until I either finish or drop out. The last 50 miles have been easier than the first but my feet (plantar faciatis) had been killing me until today. 2 days of rest should work wonders
I've been listening to the Harry Potter books as I've been hiking. Not all day but for sections
it breaks up the monotony in which the trail looks the same. I swear this trail does not head north. It does but it's like north a mile west a half south a half east a half then repeat.
Had to catch a ride from paradise cafe up to Idyllwild due to a fire from last year or the year before. There will be other sections of the trail where one is required to do the same I think I skipped about 30 trail miles but my feeling is in the grand scheme it's not that big of a deal. Here are some pics. 5 total
