Day 76. The best meal on trail so far
I woke at 8am even though I didn't fall asleep until 4am. I'm used to lack of sleep after working 120 hours a week for more than 3 years. I woke up and had a short stack of pancakes with Squarepants and a few other hikers that had also stayed at the Black Jack Hotel that night. It was only $ 5 and a very filling meal, even though I wasn't that hungry I still ate the big pancakes.
After that I bought some more food for the next 100 miles and went to Starbucks so I could finish more work that I needed to complete. My friend was getting into town at 2ish so I knew about how long I had until I had to pack up my computer. At 2pm he pulled up, along with the shoes he picked up for me at the REI in Reno. They couldn't one day ship them to me, and my Brooks Mazama shoes are hard to find so it was either that or I would have had to ride a bus all the way to Reno to get them.
We went back to his place, but before that we stopped at the grocery store to pick up food for the evening. We picked up 2 huge rib eye steaks, potatoes and onions for foil pack potatoes and some frozen veggies. This steak was cooked amazingly slow on the charcoal grill and has easily been the best meal on trail. Eating this gigantic steak with a friend I haven't seen for 2 years. Today was a great day.
On the trail from Traveling Dusty Roads!
