The Great Western Loop

Hello Everyone!

I am Iris Bakkeren, I am 22 years old and I am from The Netherlands.

PLEASE read the whole story!

I have been travelling for the past 3,5 years. I left home after graduating high school at the age of 18 to travel and explore the world. I started my trip in Australia. After 6 months of travelling solo, I bought a Border collie dog, named Zeke! I got him at 7 weeks old and he has travelled everywhere with me since then. He is the best travel buddy I could ever wish for. We travelled Australia together for a remaining 1,5 years. My visa was about to expire so we had to move on. We went to the States for 2 months and then continued to Canada. We have been in Canada for a year now and we are staying one more year to start the planning of our big trip through the states.

I will start my trip at the Canadian border at the start of the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). I will follow that trail all the way south to the Mexican border. From there I will head east, going towards the Arizon and Great Enchantment Trail, from there I will get onto the CDT (Continental Divide Trail). Starting at the Mexican border, I will take this trail all the way up north to the Canadian border. Once I arrive at the Canadian border, I will head back west to my starting point on the PCT using the Pacific Northwest Trail. This whole trip will approximately be 7000 miles and will take me between 8 to 10 months to complete.

This is one of my biggest dreams and to accomplish my dream I will need your help! I am currently working and living in Canada. I am earning nowhere near enough money to safe all the money I need for my big trip, which I will start May 2018!

I will also be looking for sponsors for the following things:

- dog food

- trail food for myself

- equipment for the horses

- training of the horses

- and anything else people could possible help me with.

I will also be looking for people who will help me get through difficult parts like the dessert, to bring supplies for the animals. These people are called Trail Angels, and play a very important part of my journey. Without Trail Angels, I would never be able to cross a dessert or other difficult sections that is scarce on food and water resources.

Than you in advance for your help and time! I hope to get my story out there and get as much help as possible to accomplish my dream. Please share this message! I appreciate all the help you can give me, even just the little things like sharing my dreams! To encourge people to help me out, for every person who donates $ 100 or more will get a free photobook when I have completed my trip. In this photobook will be all the highlights of my trip. I will assure you that the photobook will look amazing!

I am also thinking of making a little documentry video, but I cannot guarantee that I will. If I do you will all be updated and able to see the video.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Iris and Zeke :)
