Motivation For Hike
Our names are Dustin Ritchie, Rhett Martinez, Collin Hill, Logan R., Collin Sprayberry and Jarred Griffen. We are a group of recovering alcoholics and addicts that are about to embark on a journey to raise awareness for substance abuse. Our group met while in treatment together and after talking and tossing ideas back and forth on how we can be of service and raise wareness for substance abuse and to show other alcoholics and addicts that there is hope we have decided to hike the 2,600+ mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. This journey will take us through 3 different states and many different parks and mountain ranges. The money will be put toward food and supplies needed to complete the 6 month journey. Along the way we plan on hosting our own AA meetings every night and invite anyone on the trail to join us. As long as our permit is approved we plan on leaving out on February 25th 2017. The disease of addiction is affecting more and more people every year and even more are dying every day. Every one of us has had friends or family pass away from this disease and each one of us has been on the verge of death ourselves. Our goal is to show everybody, especially the alcoholic/addict, what can be accomplished in sobriety with hard work, determination and the help of a higher power of your choosing. Alot of the time we are percieved as bad people because of the choices we have made in the past, but we believe that it is not the choices we have made that define us it is what we do now to raise ourselves back up that makes us. Please help us raise awareness and fight this disease. Thank You.
