Pacific Crest Trail Map

Post-Trip

With the completion of this section, I've now hiked 634 miles of the PCT. Next year I plan to hike from the Southern Terminus to I-10. The southernmost 150 miles of next years hike will get me from Mexico to Tehachapi. The following year i'll do Tehachapi to Horseshoe Meadows, which will get me from Mexico to Tuolomne Meadows. After that, since I live in Southern California, I will try to hike larger sections (300-500 Miles) as travelling to and from the trail will be more difficult.

Thoughts on this Section:

-I did not see a lot of people which, for me, was both good and bad. I generally prefer to hike alone, but I also enjoy meeting other hikers along the trail. That rarely happened during this trip.

-Water was only an issue a couple of times. I carry a Sawyer Mini Filter, but I rarely used it.

-The Mojave Desert section was not much fun, and I otherwise would not choose to hike it if my goal was not to complete the entire trail.

-Hiker Heaven is a must!

-I'm still not sure how I feel about Hikertown...

Thoughts on my gear:

-My basic gear continues to be essentially the same that I used on both the TRT and the JMT.

-I really enjoyed the updated Gossamer Gear One tent. It is really roomy and easy to set up.

-The updated version of the Gossamer Gear Mariposa is awesome as well.

-My Western Mountaineering Megalite continues to be a champ! My favorite piece of gear by far!

-I tried a windshirt for the first time. I read a lot that its an "essential" layering piece. I'm unconvinced...

-My Golite Poncho-tarp always makes the cut - but it is always on the bubble. When I eventually get to Washington it will probably get swapped out for a shell Jacket.

Blessings, Tim
