Preparation for my hike
I am very excited and a bit nervous as I prepare my gear, clothing, and food before my flight to Sacremento, California on May 22, 2018. I am also preparing 3 resupply food boxes to be mailed out on Monday.
The plan is for my brother John to pick me up at the airport and we will spend the day together that will include a trip to REI for a few more supplies. In the evening John will drop me off at the Amtrak Train Station for the trip north to Dunsmuir, California. From there I will either walk or hitch a ride 4.5 miles south to the trailhead at Castle Crags State Park.
I will start this year's hike from Castle Crags State Park in Castella, California at trail mile 1499 on May 23, 2018. My goal is to arrive at Cascade Locks, Oregon and the Bridge of the Gods, trail mile 2153.5 on or before July 1, 2018.
Right now it is time for me to keep getting ready. I look forward to telling you more about this hike and my reasons for choosing this segiment of the PCT for this year.
