Pacific Crest Trail Map

Almost ready!!!

It's almost time to begin my 2018 hike. I must admit that I haven't gotten in many "training hikes" this spring. So, to start with, I won't be making big miles! However, I'm anxious to get away from everyday life and to enjoy the challenges and beauty of the trail.

I'll start this summer's adventure with Betsy "Gadget Girl" Frazier. Her husband, Dave "Resupply Guy" Frazier, will meet us every three or four days with our resupplies. About every-other-time he'll even get us to a shower! (Smile.) We'll be the most spoiled hikers on the trail!

We plan to leave home early on June 25th, drive to Ashland, OR, and get on the trail near Callahan's Lodge. From there we'll hike south approximately 347 miles. I had hiked those 347 miles by myself in 2016, after "Gadget Girl" had to leave the trail. Next, "Resupply Guy" will shuttle us to Old Station, CA, where we'll hike approximately 42 miles on the Hat Creek Rim, the waterless section we had skipped in 2016 during a stretch of 105-degree weather. Then "Resupply Guy" will again transport us to Lone Pine, CA., where we'll hike about 87 miles in the Sierra, a section we had skipped in May 2016 due to a snowstorm that lasted several days. While in the Sierra, we also plan to make the side trip to summit Mt Whitney. These sections will complete our California segment of the PCT.

I had hiked most of the California PCT and all the Oregon PCT in 2016; then all the Washington PCT in 2017. So, picking up the Hat Creek Rim and the 87 miles in the Sierra will officially complete my entire PCT hike. I'm VERY excited about that!

I look forward to sunshine, mosquitoes, snakes, hills, valleys, dehydrated dinners and sleeping on my new air pad. I'll update my journals as service allows.
