Pacific Crest Trail Map

Day 139

The morning was again beautifully sunny and I had 4 miles left on the detour and then I would be back on the PCT again. The views were spectacular. I was finally able to see how beautiful the Cascades were. They rivaled, if not surpassed the Sierra. I had 2 passes out climb and traverse but NOTHING was stopping me now. I had to surpress my elation as the border got closer. I met a few southbound hikers who were returning to Hart's Pass. They were unable to cross into Canada for various reasons. I had secured my permit from the Canadian government and could safely cross the border. Everyone going south offered me heartfelt congratulations and it was hard to hold back the tears. Suddenly around a bend in the trail the Monument appeared. My journey was complete and I was overcome with emotion and gratitude to all who helped me along the way.
