2018 PCT Section Hike - Day 7
Woke up at 6am feeling pretty good.
We decided to leave about 9am.
Hoping to hike 15 to 18 miles.
Everyone seems to be shooting for Mikes Place.
Wore compression socks for the shin splints.
Got to Mikes Place at around 7:30; If Mike even exists he is MIA.
Sketchy place! We'll get up early and be gone ASAP!
Post-Hike Comments:
Upon waking up at 6am, I was immediately relieved to find that God had answered my prayer in the affirmative, regarding my shin. It felt good - ready to roll! We planned to head out around 9am. Originally, we were planning to leave about noonish and hoping I could hike 10 miles. With the new plan in place, I went thru my resupply and got ready to head out. Once we got underway, the compression socks made a big difference. I hardly even noticed the shin. I really enjoyed the hike; I was especially glad to have our team back together. We made it to Mikes Place about 7:30pm and immediately got a bad feeing about the place. Unfortunately, it was late, we were tired, and the mapbook (Erik the Black's PCT ATLAS) didn't show any camp prospects for at least 5 miles. We decided to stay at Mikes, then leave first thing in the morning. The younger hikers (particularly the more edgy counter-culture types) seemed to really like the place. I asked the caretaker, a guy named Off-Trail, if Mike was around? He gave me a look like I must be nuts, and just shook his head and said nope - he's not around. I got the feeling that if Mike even exists, he definately does not live at Mikes Place!
