Footwear

So the last piece of the puzzle as far as gear goes is footwear. I've come full circle on this as Ive always worn hiking boots but I thought Id try things like trial runners, hiking shoes

and X-trainers...after all that's what everyone else is doing so there must be something to it, right? After trying on countless pairs of trail runners and other hiking shoes I fell like the

Hoka One Ones fit me the best but the thing about trail runners is thier durability. Im super hard on shoes to begin with and I fell like I would wearout any pair of trail runners long

before they need to be replaced due to the soles breaking down. I'm just not sold on the quality of just about every pair offered out there. Ive been wearing a pair of Oboz Bridger

Mid Bdry's for the past year and have worn them almost every day and they are still holding up regardless of what I put them through. Ive owned Keens, Merrils, and other hiking

boots and shoes and nothing beats the comfort and durability of my Oboz, not even close. They do run just shy of 200 bucks a pair but I am convinced that these boots will treat me

well on trail. The only thing that concerns me is the wetting out factor and the time it takes for these boots to dry out vs a lightweight pair of trail runners...I may switch to the Hokas

in the Sierras because they are more light weight and will dry out faster but then again, maybe not. Im thinking of buying a pair of Hokas to try them out on a 6 dayer I have planned

in September to see how they treat my feet, but I am going to start out the desert portion of the PTC with the Oboz for sure.
