the end of the trail
Today was a lovely day on the coast; still foggy and generally damp, but spectacular anyhow. The tides have been in our favor on this stretch and we have not had to make any allowances for them, really, aside from just doing lower miles, but that's ok since this is our first time in this environment. It is well worth enjoying.
I have to give a shout to Ranger Sean from Olympic NP.....thanks for everything!
The walking today was what I'm assuming is typical for this area... a bit of everything...by the ocean. It can be slow going at times, but I found it generally easier to stay high (above the tideline) where the rocks are not as slick. Our tides did not exceed 7' while we were there, so if the overall highs are above that, it may be harder to find anything even remotely 'dry'.
Cool petroglyphs at wedding rock.
aaaaaaaaaand...........it's done. Cape Alava. whew.
No sign, just the same fog, and a 3 mile hike to lake Ozette...where it is a mystery as to what will happen......
Thank you all for reading, sorry these last few days took so long to post. I am home now and when I can, I will give some final notes and thoughts on this trail and the summer overall. I will also be filling in photos for the PNT and the ICT from this summer.
From Glacier Park to the Olympic Peninsula, the Pacific Northwest trail travels 1200+ miles across the Northwest U.S.
