Up at 1 am
It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be waking up at one. I'm getting used to night hiking and don't mind it as much as I used to. If i hike for 8 hours straight I should be able to catch the 9 am bus into stehkin. 22 miles and counting.
I probabbly would have made the bus had I not gotten lost not once, but twice. The signs here aren't very clear and I took the wrong trail and only realized it once I was in waist high brush and could no longer see trail. I have to say being lost in the dark is not a plesant experience. Being lost doesn't faze me most of the time, being lost in the dark with a dimming headlamp battery does.
I sat down to relax, calm my thoughts, pull out my maps and figure out where I was and found that my getting getting "lost" was actually more of a shortcut. I figure it saved me a 1,000 feet of elevation and maybe a mile or two while taking me right back to the PCT. Not bad, not bad at all.
