And Finally...
This blog would be incomplete if we didn't thank all the people who made the trip a success. There were those who gave us a drink of water, a piece of lemon cake, a lift to a resupply town, or a place to pitch a tent. We would like to thank DOC, the New Zealand Department of Conservation, for every sign, trail, trail marker, brochure, and most especially for the huts, be they with a dirt floor or newly varnished paneling. You have a daunting task, and we applaud your commitment to the Long Pathway. Above and beyond the call were folks like Bruce and Anna who took us into their homes just because. They typify the Kiwi hospitality whether it was just a smile and a "Good Morning" as we walked by, or the time taken to explain kiwi history, culture, language or customs. Special thanks to all the fellow travelers we met, hiking on Te Araroa, biking New Zealand or the world, or folks in the hostels just sharing stories of travels and trails around the world. Put it all together and yes, it was one hell of an adventure! "Brilliant, good on ya" as they say down here. And now, back to your regularly scheduled program. ....Cisco and Roadrunner
