Devil's Chair

Postscript

I've now been of the trail for two months. It was great to have six weeks off to enjoy with my kids before returning to work. My grandmother Shirley Harris had a stroke and I was thankful to be able to visit her before she passed away in September.

For about a month after the trip, my right toes became numb again when I wore shoes. The foot has gradually healed, but is not yet completely back to normal. I still attribute the injury to inadequate footwear, particularly on the rocky descent from Mather Pass.

In August, I had the chance to finish out Section D from Guffy Camp to Agua Dulce. It was hot, especially for the ~40 miles through the Station Fire burn area. Hiking the PCT outside of thru-hiker season was a much different experience and I enjoyed the solitude.

I have neglected sorting pictures and posting these entries because I have been busy preparing an electronic hiking guidebook app. The code is finally stabilizing and now it is time to review my field notes and create some content.

I continue to be very thankful for my wife who sent me out on the adventure and for all the family and friends who supported me along the trail. It was a tremendous adventure and I look forward to the chance to hike more sections in the future.
