Day-late - Continental Divide Trail Journal - 2017

I've booked my Shuttle - it is official

Well, I've booked my shuttle to Crazy Cook, NM and will start there heading North to Glacier. Can't think of a better way to spend this summer. I'll be retiring from work the day before I hit the trail so this should be the start of a new phase in life for me. Looking forward to having the chance to see and hike much more of this world, and I can't think of a better way to start that off (retirement) then the CDT.

I've pretty much got all my gear figured out, not too much has changed from previous hikes except I am going to try an umbrella on this one. We'll see how that works out. I have my resupply plan ready but I have to prepare some meals yet. I am planning to send packages to 9 resupply points and will buy along the way for the rest (most) of them. I always enjoy the planning stages of a long hike so the next couple of months should be fun.

I hope you enjoy this journal. Once on trail I will attempt to make an entry for each day. I actually picked up a small keyboard to do journaling because I hate typing more than a line or two on a small screen. I still have to pick up an actual device to do journalling on - I have a cell phone from work but will be giving that up the day before the trip starts so I'll have to pick up a new one sometime before heading out in April.
