Day-late - Other Trail Journal - 2026

Upcoming Trip

In about a week I will be heading back to europe to walk another Camino de Santiago. This time I will be walking through Estonia and then Latvia with the plan to end somewhere around the Latvian and Lithuanian border. I will be starting the trip in the Estonian capital which is Talliin. It is on the Northern coast of the country along the Gulf of Finland. The trip is about 750 kilometers in length. I am expecting to spend about a month doing this trip.

The trip will be a combination of hostels and a few camping out places. I will be carrying a tent and sleeping bag because as far as I can tell there are a few spots where there are no other accommidations. This should be and interesting trip because I think I know only about 2 words of Estonian and absolutely none of Latvian. I suspect I am going to rely on google tranlate a lot for the trip.

I have no idea why I decided to do this particular trip. I just saw something about it's existance a year or so ago and it piqued my interest so I am heading off to check it out.

I plan to attempt to update this journal every day - although depending on service it may be sporatic at times. But be patient - I will eventually post a daily update.

Compared to the Camino in Spain this one is much less know and much, much less supported. I expect most people I meet to have no idea what I am walking and I expect that without a gps finding the route would be mostly impossible. Luckly I have a gps and the gpx data. Follow along on my adventure and we will see how Estonia and Latvia are for a nice walking pilgrimage.
