Pacific Crest Trail Map
This morning we awoke to a cloudy sky and began the climb up Woody Pass.
From here it continued up to 7,140 feet before beginning the descent to the
border. There were great views until we entered the forest. The trail was
an easy hike until just before the border. As we were getting closer to the
end you could see the swath cut through the forest indicating we were
almost there. The Monument just appears as we round the corner of the
trail, it was a little disappointing that there wasn't more. CANADA, we
have arrived!! We arrived at Monument 78, the Northern Terminus of the PCT
at 12:45. After taking pictures and signing the register we were off to
Manning Park to complete our journey.
From here to Manning Park is eight miles, as would be expected we had
another climb before the last descent. We arrived at the Resort to find it
full. The staff were great and let us take a shower after which they found
us a room at the local hostel. We enjoyed dinner and a celebratory glass
of wine. There were several other through hikers also resting there.
What a journey we have enjoyed and now completed!!!
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) is a 2,650 mile National Scenic Trail that runs from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington.
