Pacific Crest Trail Map

Not a through hiker

I have made the decision to leave the trail. It was a very tough decision I feel as if a failed at times. I remind myself this was a challenge I set for myself, I went further than I have ever hiked and hiked more consecutive days that I have ever done before. These are personal best, and I believe that personal best is what I am always trying to get out of my life. It doesn't mean I won't hike on this trail ever again it just means through hiking isn't for me. My health was the main reason for terminating my quest, I could not get myself hydrated correctly, and started having a true fear of doing permanent damage to myself.
The PCT is a beautiful and dangerous trail, it tested me in every way. The pressure of hiking miles to your next water source was immense for me, especially as this condition of dehydration stayed with me.
I have a ton of respect for all who attempt this trail, it is a true test of character and perseverance.
I may hike a week in Glacier National park this summer.
