Debrief the Food
Lets look at the food list from before. Generally, I was satisfied with my food. I had more than I needed (in part because we finished faster). Also, I should have planned days based on weight, eat the heavy stuff first, so I re-arranged my food as I went along.
Cheeseburger: Tastes good...
Clam Chowder: Too big for my pot. The taste was good though and the preparation easy. 1/2 everything but the calms, and maybe the potatoes.
Drop Scones: Never made them
Black-eye peas & Basil Salad: Quite tasty. We didn't have the cider viengar and I had no flat-bread. It was still tasty.
Lentil Tacos: Did not make
Soaked Cereal: Too much for my pot again...and I actually cooked it because I forgot to soak it the night before.
Elwha Lentil Tapenade: SUPER tasty. I loved the hummus and the Triscuits held up well.
Moroccan Couscous: Twice as much as I needed. I would add more water than is suggested. You MUST mix the food well when you do freezer-bag cooking. It was not well mixed and there were pockets of concentrated seasoning. Unfortunately, the smell of the left-overs was strong. I was smelling it the rest of the trip (I was glad to get rid of it in the trash-drop).
Caramel Apple Popcorn: Did not make
Apple Crisp: Tasty. Too much for my pot, but quite tasty. I only made 3/4 of it, and ate half of what I made.
Cranberry Orange Couscous: Super tasty. It took some determination to try it after the disaster of Moroccan Couscous, but it was EXTRA tasty and worth the effort. It was also just about the perfect size.
Snacks---
Pringles: Take, a bit bulky but quite tasty.
Craisin/Mixed-Nut/M&M Trail-mix: Tasty. I love the craisins.
Skittles & Dried strawberry granola mix: Tasty, but the mismatch in texture between the granola and the skittles. I would take skittles, but not make a mix with them.
Bottle caps: Tasty! Take, maybe mix in with granola instead of skittles.
Flavor packs: Good, nice to have to mix things up.
