We are taking a few down days in Stehekin, Washington to recover from our first section of trail. We did about 89 miles from Monument 78 to Stehekin in 6 days. We averaged about 15 miles per day, which is what we planned. What we didn't plan was joint problems. Laura is now limping on a bum knee and I have a swollen ankle. We both have blisters, though Laura's are more severe and we are going to have a few down days to let our joints recover and our blisters to callus over. We are staying at the free campsite and there is a nice hot shower available as well as laundry services. We welked to the bakery this morning and had a delicious cinnamon roll and carrot cake muffin and I spent a few hours reading and Laura updated her journal.
